Keywords Are The Key
Search engine optimization requires:
Keywords Are The Fuel
Keywords and keyword phrases are the fuel for my web site. They are how visitors find me in the search engines. I need to choose keywords for my niche that are both popular and consistent with the content of my site, while matching popular search terms.
The importance of keywords and keyword phrases cannot be overstated. Time invested in researching keywords before registering a domain name and as the site matures is time well spent.
Keyword Specific Searches Have Changed
Common words like a, an, and, or, the, but are not considered specific or sufficient and had been eliminated by Google. But, they have recently been re-introduced, making specific searches based on phrases possible again.
For example, my web site, internetmarketingsearchengine.org, includes a common word and is a phrase. It’s referred to as a keyword domain, because the keywords are in the name of the domain. A brand domain is something like Google.com or Yahoo.com. Hopefully, as I get the site built, I’ll show up on the first page of Google when you type in the phrase “Internet Marketing Search Engine“!
Search Terms
When people search for something online, they type in a search term. My objective is to choose keywords and phrases for my site name, pages, and posts that match these search terms.
The following video is a good introduction to keyword phrase research and talks about conversion rates. The idea is that longer keyword phrases convert best because people are narrowing their search to find exactly what they are looking for.
