Google+ Hangouts – Consider The Possibilties

Google+ introduced a number of new venues to the social networking community.  A venue is simply a place where certain types of events happen.  For example, a sports venue like Wimbledon, or a change in venue for a court appearance.  The term venue makes sense for Google+’s approach to social networking.  It’s created some new venues in its social media offering.  Those getting the most early buzz are Circles, Hangouts, Sparks, and Huddles.

Multi-User/Multi-Use Video Chats
Hangouts are live, multi-user video chats.  You invite circles to hangouts.  Whoever is available, and video equipped, in the circle, is automatically part of your video conference.  And, if someone in the circle comes online after the video chat starts, they join the hangout.  It’s like meeting with friends at a coffee shop, and someone else in the group dropping by.

And Hangouts Are A Great Place For…
That’s the general idea of hangouts.  And this venue probably has Skype and its new owner, Microsoft, a bit concerned.  You just gained a new platform for family meetings, visiting with family across the country, and video sharing.   Other than the cool stuff, consider the possibilities.

  • Free video conferencing for small businesses
  • Meetings and presentations
  • Webinars
  • Internet Marketing
  • Feedback/discussion sessions with followers
  • Demo new products/music
  • Online Instruction – myabe even college classes
  • School Projects

Here’s a pretty good how-to on Hangouts.
